My Why
I'm a freshman in college who two years ago had no interest in coming. Knowing what you want to become, or do for the rest of your life at the age of 15 is kind of a crazy concept to wrap my head around. Our brains aren't fully developed until we are 25. So when I was 15 I had decided on wanting to go into the military, the Marines to be more specific. The thought process behind this was simple. I didn't know what I wanted to do after high school so I might as well serve for our country. No one in my family had done it so I wanted to be the first. Then November 4, 2020 an accident happened that would change my whole plan after high school. I was in a powderpuff tournament with a group of girls. Powderpuff tournament is one night where girls from our high school would come out and play flag football vs each other. It was between all the different grade levels. I was a sophomore at the time it was the championship game. One of the last plays this girl jumped on me and we fell, she landed on my shoulder. I heard a pop did think much of it until after the game. I was leaning toward the left side of my body not being able to lift my left shoulder. My mom rushed me to the ER. We were there all night, I don't remember much. All I remember is when the lady rolled in the portable x-ray machine and took an x-ray of my shoulder. I thought the whole process was so fascinating. Then when I got to see my x-ray I was even more interested, in a day of the life of a radiology technician. I remember leaving and wanting to help people the way I was helped that night. Shortly after finding out I had broken my collarbone, I knew I wanted to be in the environment of the hospital being a radiology technician. Some goals I have in college are to obviously get into my program, and to make my mom proud. I want to finish school and work in a hospital close to home. Because I love my family and these next four years will be the hardest not being able to see them everyday.
